Hopefully you were counted as part of the “back by popular demand” paddle boat ride and dancing down the St. Croix River again this year! For 41 years S & P has gathered at Taylor’s Falls, partaking of an ice cream cone at the loyal creamery and boarding the boat for an evening of dance and social activity.
Many thanks to Sheri Lindemann and Robin Fryman for getting the food ready before the trip began. Many thanks as always to Dick Rueter and Ray Belanger for providing the music and dance venue for all of us!
In keeping with traditions, S & P celebrated their 51st Anniversary with the Wednesday night mainstream dance and cake provided by the dance group.
With September around the corner, be sure to invite your non-dancing friends to join S & P and Dick Rueter for ABC Dancing the first three Wednesday nights from 6:30 – 8:00. Everyone is welcome to these FREE dance evenings (no experience necessary!) Soon to follow, we start our Beginner Square Dance Lessons. August 23, 2015 – Nowthen Threshing Show Demo, Nowthen, Caller Abe Maier. Seven squares from Afternoon Squares, Beaux & Belles, Cambridge Corners, County Line Squares, Hotfoot Stompers, Rum River Squares, Single Circles, and Westonka Whirlers assisted many new dancers at the demo.
August 14, 2015 – University of Minnesota – Duluth RAs learned to square dance as part of a team building activity. It is likely to be an annual event. Doug Setterstrom called and Vicki Johnson assisted in teaching the 85 young adults and staff. Some came with apprehension and pre-conceived ideas of square dancing but left loving it.

August 12, 2015 – Whitewater Whirlers Dance, Dover, Caller Dick Severson. Four squares with dancers from Century Squares, County Line Squares, Silver Treads, and Whitewater Whirlers participated.

August 8, 2015 – Crow Wing County Fair Demo, Brainerd, Caller Abe Maier. Four squares with participants from Wadena Whirlaways, Rays Promenaders, North Country Plus, and County Line Squares were present and assisted many new dancers from the audience.

August 7, 2015 – Afternoon Squares Square Dance, Hopkins, Caller Abe Maier. After visiting Afternoon Squares, the Hopkins Sun Sailor did a front-page article on square dancing. August 2, 2015 – Pequot Lakes Senior Center Demo, Pequot Lakes, Caller Abe Maier. Rays Promenaders and County Line Squares participated in a demo with three squares dancing and many exuberant new participants.

July 31 – August 2, 2015 – Granite Fest, St Cloud, Callers Tom Allen, Dick Rueter, and Jerry Junck, Cuers Sarah Klaphake and Ken LaBau. Many dancers participated throughout the weekend event!
