Ar-Dales

January 11, 2015 – Thank you to all the brave folks that ventured out on a cold Sunday afternoon to dance to Larry Fruetel’s calling and Ken LaBau’s cueing.  There were six and a fourth squares representing seven clubs.  Celebrities, SDM Vice Chair Don Hanson and Queen Leslie Knutson from Dakota Grand were in attendance.  We were thrilled to have 14 students in attendance and they all seemed to have a good time.  Mike Hogan will be calling our February dance, which is “Love Is In The Air.”  Pictures will be taken and there will be lots of chocolate treats.  Everyone will go home with their “valentine” picture.  Please join us for good food, fun, fellowship and dancing!!

Beaux & Belles

December 31, 2014 – What do you get when you combine Ken & Barb LaBau, Dick Rueter and Tom Allen on New Year’s Eve?  A tropical paradise of dancing at the Whitney Center in St. Cloud!

The Hawaiian Luau started at 7:30 with a delicious dinner served by the Beaux to the Belles and all the other dancers who came to dance the night away.  After dinner out came the snacks, then the doorprizes, and then the night ended with ringing in the new year and a terrific pineapple/cake dessert–what a special treat that was!

Throughout all this, dancers enjoyed all the fun, friendship and fellowship that square dancing exudes!  Happy New Year!

L & M Squares

L & M Squares dance on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, year round.  Mainstream dancing begins at 6:30 p.m. with two rounds or a line dance between each tip.  Dancers meet at Cash Wise, 1401 33 St S, Fargo before the dance and order a meal from the deli, which gives them a discounted gate fee and helps the club with paying the rent.

The December 9 dance was the Christmas Dance and also the last dance of the 2014 dance year.  Four squares of red and green filled the dance floor.  It was so nice to see dancers who aren’t able to attend very often.  A very special thank you to all the guests who attend the dances — and of course to the club members who are so faithful in attending.  A HUGE thank you to all the corners – without you the square wouldn’t be complete.  Wishing each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and healthy New Year.  Happy Holidays to those who prefer that greeting.

The Nov 25 dance brought three squares of dancers who were more than willing to work up an appetite for the Thanksgiving dinner coming up in a couple days.  And of course the caller, Roger McNeil, and cuer, Bernadette McNeil, certainly kept the dancers moving to squares, lines and rounds.

Scary creatures were on the floor for the Oct 28 Halloween Dance. Roger McNeil, club caller, kept four squares of creatures moving. Bernadette McNeil, club cuer, cued round and line dances between tips.  “Salute to the Veterans” was the theme for the Nov 11 dance with four squares dancing to patriotic tunes called by Roger.  Bernadette cued rounds and lines.

Club members are assisting as angels at lessons.  They’ve also danced at Larry’s Plus, Rounds with Bernadette, County Line, Roger’s Plus, the HoeDown, Country Twirlers and of course the other three local clubs.

A HUGE thank you to Kay Jacobson, Pete Keller and Harvey Hegvick who are the current officers.  Their term is up on Dec 31 and a new slate of officers will begin their term on Jan 1.
