Canada National Convention

July 28-30, 2016 – “Partner Up, Prairie Style” Canadian Square and Round Dance Society, 19th Canadian National Square and Round Dance Convention, Saskatchewan Trade and Convention Center, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.

The 20th Canadian National Square and Round Dance Convention is July 19-21, 2018, in London, Ontario.

Thirty-five dancers from Minnesota, North Dakota, and Nebraska enjoyed the convention.

First was a short stop to see the world's largest buffalo at the National Buffalo Museum in Jamestown, ND.

The parade ended at the City Plaza in downtown Regina.

SDM Summer Festival

July 23, 2016 – SDM Summer Festival Square Dance, St Cloud, Callers Tom Allen and Abe Maier, Cuers Sarah Klaphake and Jane Simpson.  SDM second anniversary.  Seventy-eight dancers attended from 12 organizations.  Fifty-five members attended the Idea Exchange with recruitment and retention issues discussed as well as ABC, Basic/Mainstream, and Club 50.  Annual membership meeting with election of Linda Brotherton as a new director for a three year term.  Board constituted itself after the meeting with Chair LeRoy Elfmann, Vice Chair Linda Brotherton, Secretary Mary Kay Amberg, Treasurer Deb Hollimon, and Education Director Bob Meyer.  Live Lively Nonagenarian award presented to Clem Herman and Octogenarian awards presented to Jerry Berg and Jim Egerman.  Traveler awards presented to Debbie Quant, Mary and LeRoy Elfmann received their third award.  Most-Active Dance awards presented were 1st Most-Active Dancer to Barry Downs (129 events), 2nd Most-Active to Mavis Johnson and Don Lundell (124 events), 4th Most-Active to Willard Leinonen (75 events), 5th Most-Active to Debbie Quant (65 events), 6th Most-Active to Gerlene and Tony Klingelhoets (54 events).  Don Hanson was recognized for his service as the SDM Vice Chair for the past two years.
